ولد فى 25 مارس 1964, بمدينة الإسكندرية. درس الهندسة بجامعة الإسكندرية. عمل فى بدايته مساعد مخرج فى العديد من اﻷفلام مع عدد من المخرجين منها فيلم "مجانينو" للمخرج "عصام الشماع" عام 1993, وفيلم "دانتيلا" للمخرجة "إيناس الدغيدى" و "حسن وعزيزة قضية أمن دولة" للمخرج "أسامة فريد" عام 1999. وفى عام 2000 أخرج أول أفلامه "شجيع السيما ثم "صايع بحر" و"خالتى فرنسا" و"بلطية العايمة".
