ولد في القاهرة عام 1935م، تخرج في المعهد العالي للفنون المسرحية عام 1963م ، ثم عين بفرقة التليفزيون المسرحية في 9 مايو 1962م ، وعمل ممثلاً ومساعداً للإخراج. قام بإخراج أول أعماله عام 1971م. عمل في مسلسل رأفت الهجان ج1[1988] فيلم إسكندرية ليه؟[1979] فيلم البيضة والحجر[1990] فيلم طائر على الطريق[1981] فيلم فجر الإسلام[1971].
