Guardians of the Galaxy

When intergalactic scoundrel Peter Quill swipes a mysterious orb from the desolate ruins of Morag, he unwittingly paints a massive target on his own back. The prize attracts Ronan the Accuser, a fanatical warlord hungry for galactic domination, sparking a chaotic manhunt that pulls in a squad of deeply dysfunctional cosmic misfits: the lethal assassin Gamora, vengeful bruiser Drax, genetically augmented cyber-raccoon Rocket, and his arboreal sentinel, Groot. Thrown together in a maximum-security prison, these bruised outcasts must overcome their mutual contempt to orchestrate a daring jailbreak and prevent the obliteration of billions. Directed with irrepressible energy by James Gunn, the film revitalized modern space opera by swapping stuffy grandiosity for kinetic heart, razor-sharp banter, and an irresistible mixtape of 1970s pop hits. Far from the polished, monolithic heroes dominating the box office at the time, this crew fumbles through their heroic awakening, turning sheer desperation and unlikely loyalty into an exuberant, boundary-pushing adventure.
