Don't Look Up

When doctoral candidate Kate Dibiasky (Jennifer Lawrence) and her astronomy professor Dr. Randall Mindy (Leonardo DiCaprio) discover a Mount Everest-sized comet hurtling directly toward Earth, they naturally assume humanity will rally to survive. Instead, their catastrophic revelation is met with indifferent shrugs, bureaucratic deflections, and a White House run by President Orlean (Meryl Streep), whose entire strategic calculus hinges on midterm election optics rather than planetary survival. Thrust into a bewildering media blitz, the panicked scientists bounce between a vapid morning talk show run by cheerful cynics (Cate Blanchett and Tyler Perry) and tech-billionaire grifters plotting to monetize the disaster. What should be an urgent mobilization quickly degrades into an ideological culture war, capturing the hysterical reality of a civilization too distracted by trending hashtags to notice its own impending extinction.
